Plans are underway to introduce artificial rain technology in the city of Tashkent. This is outlined in the presidential decree adopted on March 25 this year, titled “On measures to implement the nationwide ‘Clean Air’ project aimed at improving atmospheric air quality.”

According to the document, special equipment will be installed in areas with low humidity in Tashkent city and Tashkent region to enable artificial rain generation. The project is scheduled to be implemented by October 1, 2027.

The introduction of this technology aims to reduce dust and harmful substances in the air and improve atmospheric quality in a short period of time. It is also expected to help increase humidity levels during dry conditions.

Under the decree, the responsibility for implementing this initiative has been assigned to the Ecology Committee, the Academy of Sciences, and the Ministry of Higher Education. They have been tasked with studying international experience and introducing effective solutions.

It is worth noting that the artificial rain technology had previously been included in the 2026 state program. According to the plan, the development of a pilot project and at least three to five practical trials are scheduled to begin from March 1, 2026. Based on the pilot results, precipitation levels are expected to increase by 10–20 percent compared to natural conditions.
