In Uzbekistan, girls are being vaccinated against human papilloma virus

In Uzbekistan, 9-year-old girls are being vaccinated against human papilloma virus (HPV) according to the national vaccination calendar.  This was reported by the Sanitary and Epidemiological Committee.

According to the World Health Organization, 528,000 women around the world are diagnosed with cervical cancer every year, and 266,000 of them die.  In Uzbekistan, 1,660 women suffer from cervical cancer and 608 women die every year.

Prevention of the disease is a vaccination of 9-year-old girls against the papilloma virus.

According to the State Statistics Committee, cervical cancer is the second most common cancer after breast cancer among women of all ages in Uzbekistan.

In April and May of this year, in order to prevent papilloma virus diseases, 9-year-old girls will be vaccinated with the human papilloma virus vaccine by vaccination teams of local treatment and prevention institutions.

For this purpose, the training of medical staff has been increased at 3138 vaccination points, and the vaccination coverage of 307,064 9-year-old girls is continuing according to the plan.

Scientific studies conducted by the Republican Institute of Virology, Oncology and Obstetrics-Gynecology Scientific Applied Medicine Centers show that if vaccination with the VPCH vaccine is carried out, 1100 women will be prevented from getting cervical cancer in the future, and more lives will be saved.
