1602On September 19, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed proposals aimed at enhancing environmental protection and tourism in Uzbekistan. One of the key recommendations was the establishment of the honorary title "Honored Ecologist of the Republic of Uzbekistan," intended to recognize individuals actively contributing to environmental conservation.
Additionally, the discussion addressed measures to prevent environmental violations and strengthen public oversight. The proposal to create the new title aims to encourage proactive citizens to protect nature.
The government also deliberated on Uzbekistan's potential accession to the Aarhus Convention, which promotes public access to environmental information, participation in decision-making, and access to justice in environmental matters.
Further legislative amendments were suggested, including the introduction of penalties for non-compliance with air protection standards in the administrative code. The government also plans to raise fines for the illegal cutting and drying of trees, unauthorized extraction of sand and gravel from riverbeds, and improper waste disposal.
Earlier, Uzbekistan introduced the honorary title of "Honored Entrepreneur of the Republic of Uzbekistan," first awarded to Sharofat Norieva, an entrepreneur and florist from Jizzakh.
