The price of cucumbers in Uzbekistan has been consistently increasing. According to EastFruit's price monitoring on December 13, 2023, the cost of short cucumbers has been steadily rising annually. This surge in prices was initially linked to gas supply issues affecting greenhouses, causing a rapid increase in the cost of smooth short cucumbers at the end of November 2023.

Since then, the prices of these cucumbers have continued to soar, with the average wholesale price rising by 29% last week. Moreover, the wholesale markets in Tashkent have witnessed a notable influx of long-smooth greenhouse cucumbers, surpassing the record levels from the previous year.

Between December 1 and December 8, 2023, the average wholesale price per kilogram of smooth short cucumbers in Uzbekistan's greenhouses escalated from 21,000 to 27,000 soums, maintaining parity with last year's record values for the same period.

Similarly, on December 8, 2023, substantial quantities of smooth long cucumbers from greenhouses entered the wholesale markets in Tashkent, marked by significantly higher prices compared to previous years. These long cucumbers were priced at an average of 25,000 soums per kilogram, marking a 14% increase from the same period last year, 2.5 times higher than 2021, and 1.7 times higher than 2020.

The highest historical prices for greenhouse cucumbers in Uzbekistan were recorded in the latter part of January this year. During this time, due to abnormally cold temperatures in Central Asia, the average price of long smooth cucumbers reached 31,000 soums, while short smooth cucumbers were priced at 35,000 soums.
