The procedure for university entrance exams in Uzbekistan is under review. Yesterday, September 8, after President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on education system reforms, Deputy Minister of Preschool and School Education Sardor Rajabov told ’’Uzbekistan 24’’ TV channel in an interview

’’Currently, our graduates first take the state graduation exams and then separate tests for university admission. This creates additional costs, consumes time, and most importantly, causes stressful situations for our children’’, the deputy minister said.

According to Sardor Rajabov, the plan is to merge these processes and introduce a unified exam using artificial intelligence elements. The exam will be conducted online, and the results will simultaneously serve as both the final school assessment and the basis for university admission.

It is noteworthy that this new system resembles Russia’s Unified state exam (Единый государственный экзамен — ЕГЭ), and discussions on implementing such a system in Uzbekistan are taking place for the first time.

Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan is introducing a 12-year school education system. This change will allow graduates of Uzbek schools to directly enter bachelor’s programs at foreign universities without spending an additional year on foundation courses abroad.
