District governors in Tashkent will build one school, one kindergarten, and one sports facility every year. This was announced today, 16 December, at a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to review the work carried out in Tashkent and set new targets for the coming year.
It was reported that the capital currently needs 75 schools and kindergartens, as well as 23 sports facilities. District governors will independently attract funding and build one school, one kindergarten, and one sports facility each year. The remaining 15 schools and kindergartens and 11 sports facilities will be constructed within the framework of the investment program.
It was also emphasized that next year it is important to attract an additional 300 million dollars for infrastructure projects without state guarantees.
Starting this year, the “Tashkent experience” initiative to improve the quality of education has been launched in one school in each district of Tashkent. Under this initiative, 1,500 students from grades 7 to 11 were selected and are being trained in areas such as IT, medicine, business, and engineering.
Based on students’ academic performance, teachers are being paid monthly salaries of up to 20 million soums. The task has been set to expand this experience by increasing the number of such schools to 24 next year and to 33 by 2027.
