Uzbekistan has implemented a law targeting foreign individuals deemed unacceptable within its borders. The legislation, approved by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on November 15, aims to address cases involving foreigners who insult the honor, dignity, or history of Uzbekistan in public statements.
Under the new law, individuals included in this category will face a five-year entry ban to Uzbekistan. Additionally, these individuals will be prohibited from opening bank accounts, purchasing real estate, participating in state property privatization, or engaging in financial and contractual relationships within the country. However, they retain the right to sell any existing property in Uzbekistan.
This legislation is part of amendments and supplements made to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons. The updated law was adopted by the Legislative Chamber on June 25 and subsequently approved by the Senate on September 21.
