4922In Uzbekistan, the sale of AI-80 gasoline may be restricted in 2025. This is stated in the draft state program for 2025, which has been submitted for public discussion.
The draft program proposes restricting the use and sale of motor fuel below the Euro-4 environmental standard by the end of 2025.
Additionally, the program suggests prohibiting the use of fuel oil as a fuel for heat and electricity generation enterprises across all regions of the country. Exceptions would only be allowed for its use as emergency fuel with approval from the Cabinet of Ministers.
Earlier, at the beginning of 2024, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov to phase out AI-80 gasoline. During a meeting addressing housing, construction, communal services, transport, and ecology, the President emphasized resolving the issue of AI-80 fuel use by 2025. AI-80 is currently the cheapest and lowest-quality gasoline available in Uzbekistan.
Moreover, specific mechanisms will be developed in Tashkent to mitigate the environmental impact of heavy trucks, cars older than 10 years, and the use of fuel below the Euro-4 standard.
