At the Tashkent International Investment Forum, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that taking investment cooperation in regional development to a new stage is one of Uzbekistan’s strategic priorities.

According to the Head of State, the country’s population is approaching 40 million. Rapid demographic growth and economic development require the implementation of large-scale programs in urbanization and urban planning.

In this regard, it is planned to double the volume of housing to be built in the country by 2040 and increase the urbanization rate from the current 51% to 65%.

According to the President, a modern New Tashkent megacity designed for 2 million residents is being built in an area adjacent to the capital. Major projects have also been launched to develop Andijan, Namangan and Samarkand into cities with populations of one million.

It was noted that housing construction projects in the country will create a guaranteed market worth at least $10 billion annually.

In addition, Uzbekistan expressed its readiness to jointly implement infrastructure projects worth $27 billion with investors on the basis of public-private partnership.

Earlier, at the Tashkent International Investment Forum, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev identified the development of transport and logistics as one of the priority areas of Uzbekistan’s economic policy.
