Uzbekistan has welcomed the announcement of a full ceasefire and truce in the Middle East reached through the mediation of Pakistan’s leadership. The statement was issued by Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“We view these efforts as an important step toward de-escalation and toward creating conditions for political and diplomatic dialogue, as well as for finding mutually acceptable solutions.

We call on all parties to exercise restraint, refrain from actions that could lead to renewed escalation, and continue constructive cooperation with the aim of achieving peace and stability,” the statement said.

The Foreign Ministry also reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s consistent position that conflicts must be resolved exclusively through peaceful means and in strict accordance with the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.

Yesterday, April 7, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that a two-week ceasefire had been reached with Iran. According to the U.S. leader, the decision was made taking into account Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s proposal and “the Islamic Republic of Iran’s readiness to fully, immediately, and safely reopen the Strait of Hormuz.” Iranian state television reported that Tehran had put forward 10 conditions for the ceasefire and that the United States “was forced to agree to them.” These conditions reportedly included a non-aggression principle, Tehran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz, uranium enrichment on Iranian territory, the lifting of primary and secondary sanctions, compensation payments, and the withdrawal of American forces from the region. Sharif invited Iranian and U.S. delegations to Islamabad on April 10 for talks aimed at reaching a “final agreement on resolving all disputes.” According to CNN, the American delegation will include Vice President J.D. Vance, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.
