Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan apply to host youth World Cup in 2027

Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan have officially submitted a joint application to FIFA to host the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup. The news was announced by the Uzbekistan Football Association.

FIFA has begun reviewing candidate nations to host the 2027 edition of the youth tournament. Highlighting recent football reforms, infrastructure improvements, and growing international influence in Turkic-speaking countries, the football associations of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan expressed confidence in their ability to successfully organize the tournament at a high level.

According to the report, both countries are fully prepared to host the prestigious event. In recent years, stadiums in Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan have been modernized to meet international standards.

“In addition, Uzbekistan’s experience in hosting the AFC U-20 and U-23 Championships, as well as the first-ever Futsal World Cup in Central Asia, has set a strong precedent. That tournament, recognized by FIFA President Gianni Infantino as the best Futsal World Cup in history, proved the country’s capability,” the statement said. “Uzbekistan, as always, is ready to impress the world with its hospitality, professionalism, commitment to football, and passionate fan base.”
