2308Within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Uzbekistan's largest trade partner is Kazakhstan, which accounts for 72% of Uzbekistan's total cargo transportation, equating to 11.2 million tons, according to "Alliance-Press."
The importance of ensuring interdependence in the field of transport and communication is emphasized, as it plays a key role in the continued development of economic relations and the overall progress of OTS member countries and regions.
Trade and economic relations between OTS member countries are rapidly growing. In 2023, Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover with OTS member states reached $10 billion. Of this, $3.6 billion was in exports and $6.4 billion in imports.
Additionally, the volume of export-import freight transportation between Uzbekistan and the countries of the OTS amounted to 15.5 million tons in 2023, which represents 24% of Uzbekistan's total international freight transportation.
Kazakhstan remains Uzbekistan's largest partner within the OTS, with its share of total cargo transportation at 72% (11.2 million tons). The second largest share is with Kyrgyzstan, accounting for 3.3 million tons (21%). Transportation with Azerbaijan totaled 69.5 thousand tons, while trade with Turkey reached 937.8 thousand tons.
The trade turnover between Uzbekistan and the OTS member states totaled $8.7 billion in 2023.
Significant agreements in the field of transport were reached within this framework, including the "Agreement on International Joint Cargo Transportation Between Member States of the Organization of Turkic States," signed on November 11, 2022, during the 9th OTS summit, and the "Transport Communications Program."
