Uzbekistan's foreign minister meets South Korean president

2353On November 4, Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov attended the 17th Central Asia - Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum in Seoul, where he and other Central Asian foreign ministers were received by South Korean President Yoon Seok-yol. In a statement on social media, Saidov wrote this on his mass media page.
“Together with our colleagues, we are honored to have been received by His Excellency Yoon Seok-yol, President of the Republic of Korea. On behalf of His Excellency Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of Uzbekistan, we conveyed our warmest regards and best wishes. The Republic of Korea is a longstanding and valued strategic partner of Uzbekistan. Our leaders have opened a new chapter in our broad-ranging relations, which are progressing at an unprecedented pace,” stated Bakhtiyor Saidov.
The forum featured four thematic sessions focused on supply chain resilience, environmental protection and climate change, tourism, and information and communication technologies.
Ministers discussed key issues, shared insights on collaborative projects, and adopted a Joint Statement along with the 2025 work plan for the forum’s secretariat.
"Central Asia is one of the fastest-growing regions in the world, and our discussions emphasized mutual prosperity,” said Saidov. He expressed optimism for new initiatives and opportunities in environmental protection, sustainable supply chains, mineral processing, digitalization, and tourism.
During his visit, Saidov also held bilateral talks with his South Korean counterpart, Cho Tae Yeol. They emphasized the commitments made during the June meeting between the presidents of Uzbekistan and South Korea in Tashkent, which opened the door to greater cooperation in high-tech, green energy, and smart agriculture. Both sides pledged to ensure the progress of joint projects across economic, regional, and international domains.
