Paralympians of Uzbekistan win 3 more medals

21182The 2024 Paris Summer Paralympic Games, currently taking place in France, continue to generate intense competition. In the Taekwondo category, two more athletes from Uzbekistan and one athlete in para-athletics have added to Uzbekistan’s medal tally.
Asadbek Toshtemirov from Uzbekistan, competing in the K44 class of para taekwondo in the -80 kg weight category, emerged as the Paralympic champion. Toshtemirov dominated the final match, leaving no chance for Mexico’s Luis Najera.
Yorqinbek Odilov, another Uzbek athlete, secured a gold medal in the F57 class javelin throw competition in para-athletics. Odilov, who finished fourth at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Paralympics, achieved a throw of 50.32 meters in Paris.
Para taekwondo athlete Guljanoy Naimova won her second Paralympic medal. Competing in the K44 +65 kg weight category, Naimova was unable to complete the final match due to an injury sustained during the bout against Great Britain’s Amy Truesdale, earning her a silver medal.
This marks Guljanoy Naimova’s second Paralympic medal, having previously won gold at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Paralympic Games.
With these victories, Uzbekistan’s delegation has now secured a total of 11 medals: 5 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze.
As a reminder, it was earlier reported that two more taekwondo athletes from Uzbekistan had reached the Paralympic finals.
