Uzbekistan joins Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty

Uzbekistan is the leader in Central Asia in terms of food security, having achieved the best results in 2021–2023 with a score of 21 points. This was reported by the Global Hunger Index based on data from 2024.

It is emphasized that this indicator reflects the effectiveness of Uzbekistan's political and institutional approaches to ensuring food security.

The ranking of other Central Asian countries as of 2024 is as follows:

- Kazakhstan – 25 points;
- Kyrgyzstan – 36 points;
- Tajikistan – 65 points;
- Turkmenistan – 50 points.

Analysis of GHI dynamics since 2020 shows:

- Tajikistan remains in the most difficult situation, with the index fluctuating between 62 and 67 points over the past three years, highlighting serious problems in food security;
- Kazakhstan began 2020 with 21 points, but by 2021 the index had increased to 28 points and has now stabilized around 24–25 points, indicating certain threats to food security;
- Kyrgyzstan has shown gradual positive changes, with the index decreasing from 42 to 36 points;
- Turkmenistan has remained in the range of 48–52 points since 2020, suggesting a stable but problematic situation.

The Global Hunger Index is published annually by international non-governmental organizations and is based on indicators such as child mortality, stunting, underweight, and malnutrition among the population.

It assesses food security across several areas, including food quality and adequate consumption, child health and growth rates, general health, and the state of social infrastructure.

It is worth recalling that earlier, in the 2024 International Hunger Index, Uzbekistan ranked 22nd globally with a score of less than 5.
