Uzbekistan will deliver an additional 500 million cubic meters of water to Kazakhstan before the conclusion of the irrigation season. This information was reported by "Kazinform," citing the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

According to the report, since April 1 of this year, Uzbekistan has supplied more than 4 billion cubic meters of water to Kazakhstan via the Syr Darya River. Before this, the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Nurjan Nurjigitov, had reached an agreement with Uzbekistan for the delivery of 3.7 billion cubic meters of water to Kazakhstan over six months. Uzbekistan fulfilled this agreement within four months.

"These efforts are being undertaken to fully meet the irrigation water needs of farmers in the southern regions of the country. Currently, the Chordara reservoir holds 1.5 billion cubic meters of water, which is nearly 500 million cubic meters more than last year. A total of 4 billion cubic meters of water has flowed into the Chordara reservoir," the report stated.

From this reservoir, 4.5 billion cubic meters of water were released to the lower reaches of the Syr Darya, which is 1 billion cubic meters more than in 2023. Additionally, 850 million cubic meters of water flowed into the Kyzylkum channel, and 590 million cubic meters into the North Aral Sea.

"As a result of a preliminary agreement with our neighbors on the operational procedures of the Toktogul and Bahri-Tajik reservoirs, water is now regularly flowing into the Kazakh section of the Dustlik interstate canal. Currently, 90 cubic meters of water per second are reaching the country through this channel, which is sufficient to fully supply the farmers of the Turkestan region with irrigation water," said Moldir Abdualieva, the official representative of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.
