Syrdarya Emergency Situations official caught accepting bribe (video)

A senior official from the Emergency Situations Department in Saykhunabad District, Syrdarya Region, has been detained on charges of bribery. The officer, head of the department's operational unit, was caught accepting a $7,000 bribe, according to a report by UzA.

Law enforcement authorities apprehended the official during a sting operation. The bribe was reportedly taken in exchange for facilitating the employment of a 1995-born resident of Gulistan city through the official's professional connections.

A criminal case has been opened against the suspect under Article 168 (Fraud), Part 3, Clause "c," and Article 28,211 (Bribery), Part 1, of the Criminal Code. Investigative procedures are currently underway.

This incident follows a similar case in the Tashkent Region, where an assistant to the regional governor was caught accepting a bribe of 5.2 million sums. The bribe was allegedly taken in exchange for helping a citizen secure a preferential loan of 120 million sums.
