The officer, a senior operative within the Criminal Investigation Service, was apprehended by law enforcement authorities for attempting to halt a criminal case in exchange for the bribe. The suspect allegedly used his official connections to secure the termination of charges against a 31-year-old defendant in a case involving illegal narcotics activities under Part 3 of Article 273 of the Criminal Code. Additionally, the officer sought to release a 22-year-old individual from house arrest. The case was formally processed in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code’s provisions on rehabilitation.

A criminal case has been initiated against the officer under Article 25,168 (Fraud), Part 3, Clause "a" and Article 28,211 (Bribery), Part 2, Clause "b" of the Criminal Code. Investigations are ongoing.

This incident follows a similar case in Syrdarya Region, where the head of the Emergency Situations Department's operational unit in Saykhunabad District was detained while accepting a $7,000 bribe.
