Uzbekistan has emerged as the largest importer of grain from Kazakhstan, according to the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan.
In the past year, Kazakhstan exported a total of 8.1 million tons of grain by rail. The primary destinations for these exports were as follows:
- Uzbekistan: 3.3 million tons
- China: 1.7 million tons
- Tajikistan: 1.2 million tons (a 20% increase from last year)
The report also highlighted the restoration of grain deliveries to Iran and Azerbaijan. Following the market recovery, grain exports to Iran have doubled to 526,000 tons, while shipments to Azerbaijan have increased by 1.8 times, reaching 211,000 tons.
Furthermore, exports to Kyrgyzstan have seen a nearly twofold increase.
It is also noteworthy that Kazakhstan was previously reported as the only major importer of goods from Uzbekistan that did not increase its imports over the past decade, but rather reduced the volume of supplies.
