Prime Ministers of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan convene on border issues

2478On January 8, a trilateral meeting was held between the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Odilbek Kasimaliyev, and the Prime Minister of Tajikistan, Kohir Rasulzoda. This was reported by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan.
The meeting took place in the border region of Batken in Kyrgyzstan, which adjoins the Fergana region of Uzbekistan and the Sughd region of Tajikistan. The leaders noted that the gathering was part of the ongoing agreements on state borders previously established by the heads of state.
During the meeting, the Prime Ministers emphasized the potential for enhanced cooperation in several key areas, including trade, logistics, water and energy resources, and the development of cultural and humanitarian ties. They highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation in border regions and fostering interregional collaboration.
Additionally, the completion of the state border delimitation process between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan was discussed, with the exchange of ratification certificates for the "Agreement on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek State Border."
The leaders also focused on the state border agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, signed on December 4, 2024, stressing the importance of finalizing the delimitation of the remaining unconfirmed sections of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border.
Earlier, it was reported that the Ministries of government of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan would convene for talks on common borders at the point where the borders of the three states meet.
