The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Israel has expressed deep condolences over the tragic murder of two employees of the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C. The statement was published on the embassy’s official page on the X social network.

The message refers to the deaths of two Israeli diplomats who were killed in an armed attack near the Jewish Museum in Washington on May 21.

“We express our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased. We strongly condemn this terrible act; any attacks against diplomatic personnel are unacceptable and contrary to international law,” the statement read.

According to reports, the victims—Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, a married couple employed by the Israeli Embassy—were fatally shot by 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez, a resident of Chicago. The shooting occurred in the evening near the museum, and eyewitnesses stated the attacker shouted “Freedom for Palestine” before opening fire.

Authorities are treating the case as a “hate crime and terrorism.” On May 22, Rodriguez was indicted in a federal court in Washington. Charges include two counts of first-degree murder, murder of a foreign official, murder with a firearm, and use of a firearm in a crime of violence. He is currently being held in custody, with a court hearing scheduled for June 18.
