On January 18 this year, a Joint Communiqué formalizing diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Uganda was signed in Kampala. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported this development.

Representing their respective governments, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bahromjon A’loyev, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uganda, Jeje Odongo, inked the document. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that during discussions, both sides expressed a mutual readiness to foster cooperation in political, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian, and various other realms.

The head of Uganda's Ministry of Foreign Affairs commended Uzbekistan's foreign policy, emphasizing its priority to cultivate and strengthen friendships, good neighborliness, and mutually beneficial relations with Central Asian countries. This praise was conveyed during the official meeting in Kampala.

Bahromjon A’loyev led the Uzbekistan's delegation participating in the ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement in Kampala, Uganda. Over 100 state delegations, including heads of foreign policy agencies, attended the event.

At the meeting, the agenda of the 19th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement was reviewed and approved. The head of the Uzbekistani delegation highlighted the necessity of close collaboration within the framework of the Action on the development of international transport networks and infrastructures, economic and financial system enhancement, peaceful conflict resolution, disaster preparedness, climate change combat, and environmental protection efforts.

It's noteworthy that Uzbekistan established diplomatic relations with Sierra Leone in April of the previous year and with Trinidad and Tobago in June.
