4401The issue concerning Kyrgyzstan's border with Uzbekistan has been resolved, and the matter with Tajikistan is nearing completion, according to the head of Kyrgyzstan's Cabinet of Ministers, Oqilbek Japarov.
"With God's help, we have settled the border issue with Uzbekistan. There is still some work left with Tajikistan, but difficult negotiations are ongoing. We believe we will soon resolve the border issue with Tajikistan," stated Oqilbek Japarov.
He mentioned that one of President Sadir Japarov's pre-election slogans was that Kyrgyz citizens should not face oppression on their land.
"The president outlined three principles for us: first, anyone who supports territorial integrity is with us. Second, we must maintain national unity without dividing people by region or clan. We stand with those who believe, 'We are one people under one God.' The third principle is the importance of paying taxes," explained Oqilbek Japarov.
He also noted that Kyrgyzstan ranks 73rd globally in terms of land area.
"For those who think our country is small, we have over 200,000 square kilometers of land, placing us 73rd in the world by area. We have water, glaciers, and land. By 2030, the global population is expected to rise significantly, and up to 1.5 billion people might become climate migrants due to water shortages. Therefore, we protect our land diligently. We do not seek others' land, but we will not cede even a centimeter of ours," said Japarov.
We would like to remind you that on May 7 of this year, a shooting occurred between Tajik and Kyrgyz military personnel on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border. At the end of March, the two countries had agreed on a shared state border.
