Uzbekistan’s Armed Forces have become the strongest military in Central Asia, according to a new ranking released by Global Firepower.
In the 2026 Global Firepower ranking, Uzbekistan improved its position by five places, rising to 53rd out of 145 countries. With this result, Uzbekistan surpassed Kazakhstan, which ranked 58th.
The regional rankings are as follows:
- Uzbekistan – 53rd
- Kazakhstan – 58th
- Turkmenistan – 78th
- Tajikistan – 100th
- Kyrgyzstan – 109th
According to the data, one of Uzbekistan’s main advantages is its mobilization potential. Nearly 16 million citizens are considered eligible for military service. The country’s armed forces comprise approximately 120,000 active personnel, most of whom serve in ground forces units.
Uzbekistan’s military inventory includes 470 tanks and 8,692 armored vehicles. Its artillery forces operate 177 self-propelled artillery systems, placing the country 23rd globally in this category. In addition, the Air Force operates 159 aircraft, including 101 helicopters. With 34 attack helicopters, Uzbekistan ranks 20th worldwide in this category.

In the previous year’s ranking, Uzbekistan’s Armed Forces placed 58th out of 145 countries.
