Uzbekistan has provided agricultural products to Afghanistan as humanitarian aid, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.

A delegation led by the Afghan Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock recently visited Uzbekistan, exploring agribusiness operations, agro-clusters, and research centers in the Tashkent and Samarkand regions. The delegation was introduced to digital agriculture, high-yield seed production, modern irrigation technologies, and processing industry advancements.

To strengthen cooperation, Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture donated agricultural products to Afghan farmers and agrarian institutions. The aid package included:

  • 5 tons of cotton seeds (sufficient for 200 hectares);
  • 20 tons of rice seeds (suitable for 100 hectares);
  • 500 kg of mung beans (covering 25 hectares);
  • 187 kg of vegetable seeds;
  • 600 kg of melon crop seeds.

These high-quality, climate-resistant, certified seeds were supplied by the Seed Development Center under the Ministry of Agriculture.

Officials stated that this aid aims to enhance food security, increase rural employment, and introduce agricultural innovations in Afghanistan.

Earlier, under the directive of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan delivered nearly 200 tons of food supplies to Afghanistan’s Balkh province during Navruz and Ramadan (Eid al-Fitr) celebrations, symbolizing solidarity and support for the Afghan people.
