Uzbek wrestling to debut at Islamic Solidarity Games in Saudi Arabia

The 13th General Assembly of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association, held in Tirana, Albania, brought significant news for Uzbek sports. During the assembly, it was announced that wrestling (kurash), the traditional Uzbek wrestling sport, has been included in the official program of the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games. This information was reported by the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan (NOC).

According to the NOC, kurash will be among the official sports of the Islamic Solidarity Games, which are set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from November 7 to 21, 2025. This decision follows a meeting between the leadership of the International Kurash Association and the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association, during which several issues related to future cooperation were discussed.

The inclusion of kurash in the Islamic Solidarity Games is considered a major achievement for Uzbek sports, as it highlights the growing recognition of traditional Uzbek wrestling on the global stage.

It is worth noting that the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games will bring together athletes from various Islamic countries to compete in multiple sports, further fostering unity and cooperation among member nations.
