The head coach of the Uzbekistan national football team, Srečko Katanec, shared his thoughts ahead of the match between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, which will take place in the 2nd round of the 3rd stage of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

"First of all, I would like to thank you for your warm hospitality. Our preparations have gone well, and we are ready for tomorrow's game. To qualify for the World Cup, we need to achieve good results in every match. We are neighbors, the distance between us is very short, and it took us just one hour to travel between the two countries. The players didn't require much time to adapt," said Katanec.

Katanec also discussed the physical condition of his players.

"The poor physical condition we had after the last game is now behind us. In that match, we can say we played against 11 soldiers—they were in excellent physical shape. We created many chances. I believe we will win tomorrow's match as well," said the coach.

For your information, the Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan match will kick off on September 10 at 19:00. In the 1st round, Uzbekistan defeated North Korea 1-0 at home, while Kyrgyzstan lost to Iran away with the same score.
