A newly renovated monument to the great Turkic poet, thinker, and statesman Alisher Navoi has been unveiled in a park in the city of Osh, Kyrgyzstan, local news outlet "24.kg" reports.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by Osh Mayor Jenishbek Toktorbayev, Chairman of the City Council Bolot Baetov, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Saidikrom Niyozkhojayev, and representatives of the local cultural community.

The restoration of the monument was initiated by local authorities and is seen as a symbol of enduring friendship between the Kyrgyz and Uzbek peoples. Organizers emphasized that the project aims to preserve the shared cultural heritage and further strengthen neighborly relations between the two nations.
“Alisher Navoi is one of the central figures of the Turkic-Muslim civilization. His legacy is one that unites us all. Today, more than ever, we must remind people that culture serves as a bridge between nations,” Mayor Toktorbayev said in his remarks.

It is worth noting that in June of this year, a 25-meter statue of Vladimir Lenin was dismantled from the central square of Osh. While some media outlets viewed the move as a break from Soviet-era symbolism, others saw it as a “rupture of historical ties.” The Lenin monument, installed in 1975, was among the tallest in Central Asia and the world.
