The Uzbekistan U-20 national team suffered a 2-1 defeat against Iran in the final group-stage match of the AFC U-20 Asian Cup but still secured a place in the next round.
In the third round of the tournament held in China, Uzbekistan faced Iran and lost 2-1. However, under the leadership of head coach Farhod Nishonov, the team finished second in Group C and advanced to the knockout stage. Their next likely opponent is South Korea, which currently leads Group D. The Koreans will play Japan tomorrow to determine final standings.
It is worth noting that the four teams that reach the semi-finals of the U-20 Asian Cup will qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will be held in Chile in September 2025.
