9743A Uzbek national was apprehended in Turkey under suspicion of involvement in terrorism, as reported by the Uzbekistan General Consulate in Istanbul.
On March 27 of this year, Turkish authorities detained 70 individuals suspected of affiliations with the ISIS international terrorist network, including a 39-year-old Uzbek citizen from the Andijan region.
Following legal intervention, it was determined that there was insufficient evidence linking our compatriot to the alleged terrorist group, resulting in his release.
In light of this incident, the consulate has issued recommendations for Uzbek citizens intending to travel to Turkey:
- Avoid engagement with extremist channels and platforms such as Telegram, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and WhatsApp.
- Refrain from knowingly storing or disseminating extremist content, including songs, lectures, or images, on mobile devices.
- Exercise caution when responding to religious solicitations or dating proposals from unfamiliar individuals via email.
