12479In an operation at Istanbul Airport, Turkish authorities detained three Uzbek women after a routine inspection revealed that they had concealed a total of 6 kilograms 28 grams of gold in their intimate areas. The discovery was made using specialized scanning equipment, and the gold has since been handed over to law enforcement for further investigation. This development was reported by Haber ERK.
According to initial reports, on April 25 at approximately 21:30 local time, the women, who had arrived from Chimkent, attracted suspicion and were subsequently stopped for inspection by airport security. While a search of their luggage yielded no contraband, a body scan conducted with a specialized device detected unusual density in their intimate regions.
Following the suspicious findings, and under the direction of the prosecutor’s office, the women were taken to a hospital in Istanbul for a comprehensive medical examination. X-ray imaging confirmed that large quantities of gold had indeed been concealed in the targeted body areas. A detailed examination conducted under police supervision recovered 120 pieces of gold totaling 6 kilograms 28 grams.
The confiscated gold has been transferred to the investigative team, and authorities are continuing to gather evidence in connection with the case.
This incident follows a similar case when, previously, a suspect at the “Navoiy” border customs post in the Tashkent region was apprehended attempting to smuggle gold by concealing it in his intimate area.
