Customs authorities seize over 1kg of gold hidden on passenger’s body

Customs officers at Navoi border checkpoint in the Tashkent region detained a suspect attempting to illegally transport gold by hiding it on his body, according to the regional customs department.
During a personal inspection, authorities discovered 1,028 grams of solid gold, concealed by the suspect. The estimated market value of the gold items totaled 1.312 billion UZS.
Customs authorities have launched a criminal case regarding the incident.
Legal procedures are currently underway.
Previously, officials reported another smuggling case at Tashkent International Airport, where a passenger arriving from Istanbul, Turkey, was found carrying rare and valuable books.
