Construction and reconstruction work is commencing in the food, farmers', and commodity markets of Tashkent city, as reported by the capital administration.
During the initial stage of this project, the Tashkent wholesale market of agricultural products, the primary supplier to all capital markets, will undergo reconstruction.
The announcement states, 'Products brought to the market exceed the available area, leading to irregular trade in the surrounding areas, including along the Chirchik canal. Over 600 trucks enter and exit the market daily, causing severe traffic congestion on highways and inconvenience to the population.'
Throughout the reconstruction phase, entrepreneurs are encouraged to continue operations in 'Food city,' 'Tashkent Index,' and other shopping complexes, where expenses related to property transfer (transportation, loading, unloading, etc.) are covered, and a 3-month rent exemption for shops is provided in these complexes.
Additionally, to enhance convenience for residents, 10 free buses now run from the 'Koyliq' massif to the market area. A public transport station has been established, ensuring city accessibility in all directions.
Of the 144 workers previously employed in the market, they have been absorbed into employment within the 'Food city' and 'Tashkent Index' shopping complexes.
The objective behind these measures is to enhance convenience for sellers and buyers in the food, farmers', and goods markets, improve market functioning, and meet sanitary, hygiene, and fire safety requirements.
