In Tashkent, individuals were detained for selling 7,600 boxes of three types of surgical needle threads of unguaranteed quality for $10,000. The Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office reported this.
It was noted that during an urgent operation conducted jointly with the Uchtepa district department of the agency and customs officers, citizens D.I. and D.T., who were illegally engaged in the sale of medical products, were detained with material evidence while attempting to sell 7,600 boxes of three types of surgical needle threads manufactured abroad for $10,000 to citizen U.Sh.
During the operation, 13,621 pieces of 23 types of medical products of unguaranteed quality, with a total value of 214.5 million soums, were seized as material evidence.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 186-3 of the Criminal Code (production, preparation, acquisition, storage, transportation, or sale of substandard or counterfeit medicines or medical devices for the purpose of sale, or the sale of such items outside pharmacies and their branches). Investigative measures are currently underway.
It is worth noting that earlier, the sale of low-quality medicines worth 15 billion soums was prevented in the Namangan region.
