4223As part of the ongoing “Safe and Healthy Country” comprehensive operational preventive campaign, law enforcement authorities have dismantled a drug trafficking operation run by two individuals in Tashkent. The news was confirmed by the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the capital.
According to the report, during a targeted operation conducted by the Rapid Search Service of the Mirzo Ulugbek District Department and the State Security Service, 81 packages containing a white, pungent-smelling powdery substance were found inside an Onix vehicle. These items were confiscated in the presence of official witnesses.
Following the initial seizure, the operation continued based on further intelligence obtained from the suspects. A search was conducted at house number 20 in the Yashnabad district. Inside the residence, law enforcement discovered various crystalline substances wrapped in adhesive packages, electronic weighing scales, and a large amount of powdery material. All items were officially registered and seized as evidence.
In addition, the investigation revealed multiple concealed "pawns"—drug stashes that the suspects had previously hidden in the Bektemir district. These were located and recovered during follow-up searches.
The seized materials were examined by the Expert-Forensic Center of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Tashkent. Laboratory analysis confirmed that the substances were indeed narcotic drugs. The total weight of the drugs intercepted in the operation amounted to 1 kilogram and 697 grams.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 273, Part 5 of the Criminal Code (Illegal production, acquisition, storage, or other actions with the intent to distribute narcotic drugs, their analogues, or psychotropic substances). A preventive measure in the form of detention has been applied to the suspects. Investigations are currently ongoing.
Authorities also reminded the public that earlier this year, 21-year-old individuals were detained in the Tashkent region for secretly distributing 520 packets of highly potent psychoactive substances.
