Fraudster in Tashkent Sentenced for Embezzling $42,000 from Fellow Citizen

5747A fraudster who had promised preferential loans and land plots has been apprehended in Tashkent, as reported by the General Prosecutor's Office.
According to the report, an individual named G.E., who had a prior conviction for fraud in the Mirabad district, gained the trust of G.G. and purportedly guranateed him a preferential bank loan and 6 acres of land near a commercial complex in the Chilonzor district. G.E. claimed to have connections with influential individuals in high-ranking positions who could facilitate these arrangements. However, instead of fulfilling the promises, G.E. deceitfully obtained $22,000 from G.G. and further demanded an additional sum of 600 million soms for the registration of the land documents. As evidence, $20,000 was seized.
Currently, a criminal case has been initiated, and investigations are underway based on Article 168 (fraud) and Article 28, 211 (bribery) of the Criminal Code.
