A Lacetti vehicle mows down a pedestrian in Tashkent (video)

A heart-wrenching video depicting a Lacetti driver striking a pedestrian in Tashkent's Yashnabad district has been widely shared on social media.  The Traffic Safety Department of the Main Department of Internal Affairs has been notified and commented on the situation.

Reports indicate that on 13th of April this year at 10:50 a.m., a 19-year-old driver named R.I. hit a 47-year-old pedestrian while driving a Lacetti car on Mahtumkuli Street in the Yashnabad district.  The video footage shows the pedestrian being flung several meters away after the collision.  It was revealed that the pedestrian had been involved in a traffic accident while crossing the road at an unregulated crossing.

As a result of the incident, the pedestrian suffered injuries and was hospitalized.  In response to the situation, the Investigative Department of the IIBB in Tashkent initiated a criminal case under Article 266, Part 1 of the Criminal Code.  The investigation is currently ongoing.

Despite the incident occurring some time ago, the Road Safety Department did not provide information about the incident until the images of the accident circulated on social media.
