14576In a tragic incident in Tashkent, a man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for killing his wife by striking her on the head with a hammer. The attack occurred in the Yunusabad district of the capital and was reported by Millar.
The defendant, born in 1993, and his wife, born in 1987, had been experiencing ongoing disagreements. The fatal argument stemmed from the woman’s complaint about her husband's inability to financially support her children. Tensions between the couple had been escalating over time.
During the trial at the Shaykhantohur District Criminal Court, the prosecutor revealed that the defendant struck his wife on the head with all his strength, causing fatal injuries.
The defendant expressed remorse, explaining, “We have seven children and had lived well. My wife was angry and said insulting things to me. After hearing those words, I became stressed. I lost control of myself and hit her with the hammer. I know I only struck her once.”
In his court testimony, the man acknowledged his actions but claimed that the heated argument led to a moment of uncontrollable rage.
The court convicted the defendant under Part 1 of Article 97 (Murder), sentencing him to 10 years in prison.
This case follows a similar incident in Samarkand, where a man was sentenced to 19 years in prison for killing his 23-year-old wife with a hoe. He was found guilty under Part 2, Subparagraph "j" of Article 97 (Murder).
