On August 26 of this year, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in cooperation with the Department for Combating Economic Crimes and the Tashkent Regional Department of Internal Affairs, conducted a swift operation in the Qibray district. During the operation, a person who promised to acquire 3.5 hectares of land in the district's Yakkatut neighborhood through auction manipulation was apprehended. He was caught while demanding $1.5 million for the necessary documents and had already received $50,000 as an advance payment.
Additionally, two residents of the Qibray district were arrested for attempting to sell 1.2 hectares of agricultural land from the state reserve in the Bostonliq district for $384,000. They were caught red-handed when they received $20,000 as a bribe, promising to formalize the land deal through connections with high-ranking officials.
Criminal cases have been initiated, and investigations are ongoing in both cases.
It is worth noting that earlier in Kashkadarya, officials were arrested for concealing illegal sand mining activities, and in the Surkhandarya region, officials were caught accepting bribes to cover up crimes related to construction works.
