3 people died of poisoning while cleaning sewage in Tashkent region

3 men who were cleaning faulty sewage in Tashkent region died as a result of suffocation from poisonous gas.  The press secretary of the General Prosecutor’s Office, Hayat Shamsutdinov, informed KALAMPIR.UZ about this.

On July 20 of this year at around 10:30 AM, “R.M.”, located on the street of Tashkent road passing through “Toytepa” neighborhood of Nurafshan city, Tashkent region.

A.Q., a 57-year-old employee of the limited liability company “Tashkent Kommunal Kuriles Servis”, who was carrying out cleaning work, fell into the well of the sewage network that passed under the secondary road in front of the car shop.  He was suffocated by the mixture of poisonous gas that came out of the well and lost consciousness.  23-year-old M.S., 55-year-old Ye.K., who fell into the well to help him.  And 27-year-old Sh.F.  also lost consciousness due to gas.  As a result, A.Q., M.S.  and E.K.  died at the scene.  27-year-old Sh.F.  and in an unconscious state, Nurafshan was admitted to the intensive care unit of the central hospital of the city.

According to the preliminary information of Nurafshon city forensic examination on July 20, 2023, A.Q., M.S.  and E.K. died due to acute hydrogen sulfide poisoning and acute respiratory failure of the heart and blood vessels.

In connection with the situation, a criminal case has been initiated by the investigative unit under the Internal Affairs Department of Nurafshon city under Article 257 of the Criminal Code (violation of sanitary legislation or anti-epidemic regulations), paragraph 2, paragraph “b”, and preliminary investigations are being conducted.  The progress of the investigation was monitored by the city prosecutor’s office, and information about the results will be provided.
