In the Urta Chirchik district of the Tashkent region, individuals who caused 41 million soums in environmental damage through illegal fishing activities have been apprehended. This was reported by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change.

State inspectors from the Tashkent Regional Department of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, alongside officers from the National Guard Department, conducted control raids aimed at preventing illegal fishing. During the operation, offenders identified as S.Ch., I.N. and N.J. were discovered using fishing nets to illegally catch fish in a reservoir. A total of 116 fish, including 42 kilograms of white sila, sole fish, Zagora fish, and white flounder, were seized from the perpetrators. It was determined that their actions resulted in 41 million soums in damage to the environment.

As a result, an administrative report was filed against the offenders by Article 90, Part 1 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility. Three boats and over 2,000 meters of fishing nets found during the raid have been placed in the storage of the Tashkent Regional Department of Ecology for temporary safekeeping until the matter is fully investigated.

The Ministry noted that the collected documents would be sent to the Orta Chirchik District Court of Tashkent Region for a legal assessment of the situation.

In a related incident, a previous raid in the Navbahor district of Navoi region uncovered illegal fishing activities involving electric rods. Three individuals were caught fishing in the Zarafshan River, capturing species such as tadpoles, white carp, carp, Zagora fish, and the Turkestan whiskered fish, which is listed in Uzbekistan's Red Book.
