Tony Blair offers expert advice to Uzbekistan

On November 12, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the former Prime Minister of Great Britain and Chairman of the Global Change Institute, Tony Blair, in Baku. This information was provided by the President's press service.

During the meeting, they discussed prospects for the further development of Uzbek-British relations and the possibility of establishing practical cooperation with the Global Change Institute, led by Tony Blair.

"The former Prime Minister highly praised the comprehensive and irreversible reform program being carried out in New Uzbekistan and expressed his readiness to provide expert advisory support in its implementation," the report stated.

The development of transport corridors, gaining access to new markets, implementing international payment systems, enhancing investment policy efficiency, and other areas were identified as priorities for collaboration with the institute.

It was also agreed to organize additional meetings at the expert level of relevant agencies to determine specific directions for partnership.

Today, November 12, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is holding a series of meetings in Baku as part of the COP-29 summit. He has met with Charles Michel, Chairman of the Council of Europe; Alexander Stubb, President of Finland; Yakov Milatovich, President of Montenegro; Adil-Reno Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development; Muhammad al-Jassir, President of the Islamic Development Bank; Salim Al-Malik, CEO of ICESCO; and Mafalda Duarte, Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund. Additionally, the Uzbek leader held brief meetings with Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon, Poland’s President Andrzej Duda, and Guinea-Bissau’s President Umaro Sissoco Embaló.
