An event dedicated to the launch of the Alisher Navoi monument project was held in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan. This was reported by Ahror Burhonov, spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

"Today, an event dedicated to the launch of the Alisher Navoi monument project was held in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif", he posted on his Telegram channel.

It was reported that the event was attended by the city mayor, senior officials, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ office in northern Afghanistan, and representatives of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in the city.

It is worth noting that the Navoi monument in Mazar-i-Sharif was partially damaged in February 2023. At that time, the spokesman of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahror Burhonov, described the incident as “an act of vandalism.” Most recently, the monument was completely demolished. The Taliban informed Uzbekistan that the site of the previous monument was not considered worthy of the great scholar’s memory and pledged to rebuild it soon.
