Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov came instead of the President to participate in the summit of the Organization of Turkic States

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, chairman of the People's Consultation of the National Council of Turkmenistan, arrived in Samarkand today 11 November, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkatt Mirziyoyev to participate in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States.
He was met at the airport by the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov.

Today, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will attend the summit of the Organization of Turkic States as an honored guest.

It should be recalled that before this, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kasim-Jomart Tokayev, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadir Japarov, the President of the Republic of Turkey Rajab Tayyip Erdogan came to participate in the summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban came to Samarkand.

For information, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan are members of the Organization of Turkic States.  Hungary and Turkmenistan have observer status in this organization.

Even though the former President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev handed over the chair of the head of state to Kasim-Jomart Tokayev in March 2019, he always attended the meetings of this organization himself.  In November 2021, in the third year of his presidency, Tokayev participated for the first time on behalf of Kazakhstan at the summit held in Istanbul.  This situation seems to have been repeated in Turkmenistan.
