A well-known sports journalist died

Today, on July 1, a well-known sports journalist from Uzbekistan, Mavlon Shukurzoda, died at the age of 69.  He was born on May 31, 1954 in the town of Alimkent, Akkurgan district, Tashkent region.

Mavlon Shukurzoda made a great contribution to publicizing the activities of “Pakhtakor” football club.  The journalist worked as a consultant during the shooting of the film “Pakhtakor-79”.

“He was a journalist, possessor of encyclopedic information on Uzbek football.  He actively participated in all events of the association with the participation of veterans.  We will remember him as a very cultured, polite and bright person.  May God bless him,” says football commentator Davron Fayziyev.

As it turned out, the deceased journalist was registered to participate in the Akhbor Imomkhojayev memorial tournament, which is scheduled to be held on July 3 of this year.

“Veterans, journalists, relatives will take part in this competition.  Among them was Mavlon aka Shukurzoda, a good person, an excellent journalist, a Pakhtakor and one of the devotees of Uzbek football.  “Despite being 69 years old, Akhbor Aka chose number 14 to participate in the memorial tournament,” says Dyor Imomkhojayev, general director of the Professional Football League of Uzbekistan.
