Lawyers promising to influence court verdicts were caught in multiple regions

4607In the Kashkadarya, Navoi, Bukhara, and Syrdarya regions, several lawyers were apprehended for attempting to influence court verdicts illegally. These operations were conducted by the State Security Service (SSS) and the Prosecutor General's Office, according to an SSS report.
In Dehqonabad District, a lawyer from a local law office allegedly accepted $4,000 to secure a non-custodial sentence for a defendant in a criminal case, claiming he could influence the outcome through judicial connections. He was apprehended with incriminating evidence.
In another case, a lawyer from Navoi city was caught in Karmana district while allegedly accepting 20 million soums and $500. He promised to secure a lenient sentence for a defendant in a criminal case involving Articles 246 and 273 of the Criminal Code through his connections.
In the Vobkent district of Bukhara region, a lawyer from a local attorney’s office was found accepting $1,200 to reduce a client’s freedom restriction sentence from 3 years and 6 months to 1 year and 2 months.
In Karshi, Kashkadarya region, a lawyer accepted $1,100, allegedly promising to annul a couple’s marriage in an inter-district civil court by using his influence.
Lastly, in Syrdarya’s Shirin city, a lawyer was caught accepting $800 and 2.5 million soums, purportedly to secure a non-custodial sentence for a client in a criminal case involving Article 270 of the Criminal Code.
Criminal cases have been initiated against these lawyers, and investigations are ongoing.
This follows an earlier incident in Tashkent, where two lawyers and a legal advisor were detained for attempting to influence court verdicts, promising to reduce sentences or secure acquittals in exchange for large sums.
