Staying in the sun for a long time on hot days causes various diseases and allergic reactions.  So, what measures should a person take to protect his body from such diseases?  In this regard, the Ministry of Health has provided some information and recommendations.

According to the information of the Republican Scientific Center of Allergology, the disease caused by increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight is called photodermatosis.  According to statistics, this disease occurs in about 20% of the world’s population.

“Sunlight itself is not an allergen.  However, when ultraviolet radiation interacts with the skin or any substance in the human body, an allergic reaction can occur.  However, when ultraviolet radiation interacts with the skin or any substance in the human body, an allergic reaction can occur,” says the head of the center, doctor of medical sciences, professor Elmira Rozikova.

As a result, various rashes in the form of blisters, bumps, red spots, and burns appear in the upper part of the chest, neck, and hands.  Sometimes skin rash, itching and swelling are also observed.  Rashes are formed from the first hours of exposure to heat up to a week.  Often, the symptoms of photodermatosis disappear after treatments.  But there is also a possibility that this condition will haunt a person for the rest of his life.

Also, in the recommendation of the ministry, it is emphasized that it is advisable to be in shady and cool places from 10:00 to 15:00, to dress as tightly as possible, to use sunscreen creams designed for sensitive skin.

“Some drugs can cause photodermatosis or aggravate the disease.  Therefore, it is necessary to carefully read the instructions for use of the drug or consult a doctor.  Patients using Elidel or Protopic ointments used in the treatment of atopic dermatitis are prohibited from walking in the sun.  Or it is better to use these tools from the afternoon to the evening,” says the set of recommendations presented by the ministry.
