First Deputy Minister of Health Davron Sultanov and Deputy Minister Farrukh Sharipov have been dismissed from their positions. The announcement was made on May 7 during a videoconference chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, which focused on priority tasks for the next stage of healthcare reforms.
Deputy Minister Olim Omonov was also issued a warning: if he fails to achieve progress in digitalization within six months, he will be dismissed.
“If the heads of the ministry do not change their worldview, become selfless, feel responsible, and increase accountability, the reforms will not reach the mahalla,” the President stated.
The Majlis strongly criticized the ongoing delays in introducing a national health insurance system. While it was announced last year in Tashkent that the system would be launched in Karakalpakstan, Navoi, Samarkand, Fergana, Surkhandarya, and Khorezm by 2025, it was noted that the Insurance Fund has merely become a distributor of funds rather than a driver of reform.
Authorities were also criticized for their failure to implement even a basic “electronic prescription” system, let alone fully digitize healthcare. Significant shortcomings were noted in the rollout of the “electronic polyclinic” and “electronic hospital” initiatives.
