More than 87 billion soums were damaged by the mining of sand and gravel from Syrdarya

Illegal sand and gravel mining in the Tashkent region has caused more than 87 billion soums in environmental damage, according to the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change.

During an environmental control raid on the Syrdarya River, which flows through the "Achamaili" MFY, Bekobod District, authorities found unprocessed sand and sand-gravel mixtures being transported. Howo and Zil freight transport vehicles were observed being loaded from the left bank of the river using a vehicle (loader) with its license plate number removed.

The damage to nature from the sand and gravel mining was calculated to be 87 billion 651 million 83 thousand 344 soums. Three cargo vehicles were impounded and placed in a penalty area in the city of Bekobod for temporary storage. The documents related to the case have been sent to law enforcement authorities for legal assessment.

It is worth noting that earlier, illegal sand mining in Kashkadarya caused more than 6 billion soums in environmental damage.
