The body of a 59-year-old man was discovered in a canal running through the Saykhunabad district of the Syrdarya region, according to the regional Emergency Situations Department.
The report states that on June 21 at 11:46 a.m., the Saykhunabad District Department of Internal Affairs received a call from the district Emergency Situations Department, informing them that a body had been spotted floating in the water and requesting assistance in retrieving it.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and removed the body of a citizen born in 1966 from the 266th picket of the right branch of the inter-district canal, which passes through the territory of the "Bakhmalsoy" municipal water supply system in Saykhunabad district.
An investigation is currently underway, and authorities plan to release additional information once a conclusion has been reached.
It was earlier reported that another Uzbek citizen drowned while swimming in the Russian Republic of Bashkortostan.
